Six souls crossing the desert, a journey from life to death, a dance macabre, a useless escape from an ineluctable destiny, a sandy and bumpy path for six African dancers accompanied by the haunting, stubborn roll of drums. Souls, the new work by Olivier Dubois, created during a residency in Cairo, confirms the originality and creativity of this young French choreographer, who recently succeeded Carolyn Carlson as director of the Centre Chorégraphique National in Roubaix. A very special dancer and a cutting-edge choreographer, Dubois has seduced audience and critics alike with a series of important works, like Prêt à baiser, Révolution and Tragédie, already staged in Italy.
