OPERA LAMB
Opera Lamb focuses on Senegalese folk wrestling, on its huge range of values and beliefs and on its sense of belonging to a tribe or a native village. The protagonist learns about the discipline of Lamb, which provides him an opportunity for growth. He will learn a method made of perseverance and physical and spiritual rigour: this will train him to deal with everyday life. A Mbeur (wrestler) is not only an athlete, but a wise man who knows that wrestling is a way of life. Opera Lamb is built on the rich tradition of Lamb as a typical distraction for ancient village communities but also on the great artistic tradition of Senegal, including music, dance, tales and visual art. Opera Lamb stages the right to life and future existence of Senegal’s new generations.
