The tragedy of the Great War spared no-one, neither the soldiers at the front nor the women who had to take care of their families in a tough battle for survival. It was especially absurd for the people of Friuli: enlisted in the Austrian army in 1914 to fight on the Eastern Front, they were in the trenches a year later, fighting the Italian army. Moni Ovadia and Lucilla Galeazzi will narrate the stories of this land and these soldiers through the letters and memories Gadda and Ungaretti wrote from the front, or through songs: either patriotic or anti-war, either by such important poets like Trilussa or E.A. Mario (the author of La Leggenda del Piave) or anonymous, like the legendary O Gorizia tu sei maledetta: their different voices will join in an incredulous and sorrowful chorus.
