Compagnia Abbondanza/Bertoni
TERRAMARA (1991-2013)
Terramara, the first production of the Abbondanza/Bertoni duo, who would later variously investigate the complex bond between opposite sexes, was a hugely successful exploit in 1991. Rich with echoes of Bach and dense with Hungarian, Indian, Rumanian and also Sicilian tones, the pièce was gently meant to celebrate the features of our typically “Mediterranean” character, a model probably worth rediscovering. Its 2013 recreation brought to light a new couple of excellent dancers, guided by the original choreographers-interpreters. Chiocchini and Pacelli dance on a stage covered with hundreds of oranges, contemplating the passing of time and the transformations of love, weaving the qualities of our “bitter” but generous land into a warmly coloured, strongly physical choreography.
