In the late ’70s Giovanni Testori took Pasolini’s place as the front page commentator of the national newspaper «Corriere della Sera», which published the three articles on violence against women on which the show is built. The theme hides a problem Testori clearly focused on: “We should not, as it often happens with other despicable crimes, talk ourselves into diminishing its severity, its irreligious and inhuman shame, without taking any responsibility. Man would get used to what is not human. Getting used to everything is one of the greatest risks we run [...] The culmination of this risk will not be a new awareness, but a coal-dark night opening onto the conscience that was eliminated or destroyed”.
