A show combining on the same stage the star of the ballet scene, Svetlana Zakharova, and her violin virtuoso husband, Vadim Repin, has been long-awaited by the lovers of music and ballet. So here is the Gala-Concert à la russe, conceived by the two interpreters with a mutual love that puts the partner in the best light. The programme features the pièces de résistance from the couple’s respective repertoires in a series of musical and choreographic miniatures: in The Dying Swan, Fokin’s languid choreography, emphasized by Zakharova, takes on a new light in Repin’s rapturous performance of Saint-Saëns’s caprices. An intimate harmony unites the two artists on stage and strikes the audience with the authenticity of life.
